"The daily personalized workouts with the support of an experienced coach was just what I was looking for to increase my motivation, and challenge myself."
On Monday March 16 my alarm went off at 5 a.m., as it always does, to wake me up to go to the gym. I opened up my phone and panicked when the news I knew would be coming but was hoping against hope would not was there on my screen – my gym was closed indefinitely in the light of the Covid-19 pandemic. I started training with Bobby back in the University of Windsor days. Even as an employee of the university, working out of their gym, his one-on-one coaching and ground-breaking classes attracted a loyal group of followers, myself amongst them, that felt like a family. When I finished school and left Windsor, I didn’t know how I would find anything comparable. So when Bobby and his team began offering remote one-on-one coaching, I was thrilled. The daily personalized work-outs with the support of an experienced coach was just what I was looking for to increase my motivation, challenge myself and work towards my fitness goals.
The carefully tailored programming has always been responsive to my needs and surroundings, including workouts I could do while on vacation without equipment. When the news hit that I would have no gym to workout in for the foreseeable future I knew Bobby would come up with something, but given the magnitude of this obstacle, part of me still worried. The very real prospect that not only would I soon be confined to my home, but that I wouldn’t have the daily workout that I count on for my physical, mental and emotional well-being, was a daunting one. I should have known better than to doubt WHL. Within hours of getting the no-gym news, Operation Darkhorse went live! Since then WHL has not only been offering daily remote workouts that despite the fact that they require little to no equipment, still pack a major punch, but has also extended the borders of its local community through the use of social media, video conferencing, fitness challenges and even social events! As a remote workhorse, being welcomed into the virtual stable and getting to meet and interact with the rest of the WHL community, has made me feel like a part of something bigger and added a whole other dimension of motivation and reward to my fitness regime.
Fitness is about far more than physical strength or appearance. Put simply, it’s about feeling good in body, mind and soul. And, WHL is not just about working out. It’s about pushing yourself to find that happy place through hard work, dedicated coaches and a warm and robust community. With isolation being the new normal, there has never been a better time to join the Workhorse Nation!
